Take Notice: Sir Michael, Rocks

The name may not seem familiar straight away but take a closer look, Sir Michael Rocks is actually Mikey Rocks, one half of The Cool Kids, the self proclaimed ‘new black version of the Beastie Boys‘.

The Cool Kids were definitely the popular kids on the school yard and not much has changed. They spit a signature colourful style with dope-boy fresh confidence, slick ryhmes and wicked beats that beat. Over the years the sound of the young duo has matured and they have developed into underground hip hop heavys. Their popularity has grown on the back of just one EP and several mixtapes, free for download here.

Fans are anxiously awaiting the groups must delayed – 3 years – LP When Fish Ride Bicycles. There has been so much talk about the album the hype is hyped. Apparently they are having some record label issues hence all the free music. In a effort to stay fresh and keep fans healthy Sir Michael is on the verge of releasing a solo mixtape/short documentary, Special Edition Grand Master Deluxe.

Sir Michael’s solo sound is a grown up version of what we have become accustomed to when he is raps with CoolKid partner Chuck Inglish. The first single “Foreign Features” is cool as clyde and features Sir Rocks menacing flow that chills the beat down with his iambic prose. Several other songs from the mixtape have been released and are indicators that this mixtape will be ill.

Stop right where you stand and Take Notice of Sir Michael Rocks as he steps out on his own and refreshes our love for the Cool Kids sound.
